Creating tiers of ACC women’s soccer

J.J. Post | Wednesday, September 14, 2022

Through seven games of non-conference play, it would be difficult to call Notre Dame women’s soccer’s season anything but a roaring success. The team has notched a perfect 7-0-0 record, with every win coming by a multiple goal margin. The defense has allowed just three goals across 630 minutes of play. And with ACC play

Position Breakdown: Defensive Tackle

Observer Sports Staff | Friday, April 9, 2021

While Notre Dame’s defense has a few more questions than they entered 2020 with, the Fighting Irish are bolstered by a pair of their top defenders returning at defensive tackle, making the position one of the strongest on that side of the ball.  Last year, Notre Dame boasted an elite run defense, as they particularly

Notre Dame looks to put last year behind them, takes on UNC

Aidan Thomas | Wednesday, November 6, 2019

The fall was quick and harsh for the Notre Dame men’s basketball team. After the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, which both ended in Elite Eight berths for the Irish, Notre Dame reached just the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the following season and faced an ugly loss to West Virginia. In 2017-2018, an

Greason: With flaws exposed against UNC, ND will be stronger long-term

Elizabeth Greason | Tuesday, January 29, 2019

College basketball is a game of wins and losses. In case you’re unfamiliar with the concept, the wins are good. In fact, if you’re going to succeed, the wins are necessary. And the losses are bad. Don’t worry. That’s not my hot take. That comes a little later. Because although the losses are bad, they’re

This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bou This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bouts will begin its preliminary rounds. A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
