lettertotheeditor | Wednesday, September 21, 2022

I read Ryan Peters’ “Not a serious program” column that appeared the week after the Marshall game. As an attendee at that game, I would like to make a couple comments relative to what is happening in the stadium during games. I agree with him that ND Stadium IS NOT INTIMIDATING.  It once was. I

Monday evening, in a closed stadium rehearsal, the full Notre Dame marching band took the field to prepare videos of some of their musical selections. The band recorded a program for a pregame and halftime show, which will hopefully be shown in-stadium when the Irish take on the Clemson Tigers on Saturday. “It was actually

Emily DeFazio | Tuesday, October 20, 2020

Since its founding in 1949, the Irish Guard has remained a staple of the Notre Dame football experience. With their multicolored kilts and tall black hats, one can recognize the Guard as a symbol of the marching band. This year has proven to be history-making for the Guard in more ways than one. She was wet and cold,

‘They didn’t expect to see a dog there’: band remembers ‘unofficial mascot,’ Edwin

Maria Leontaras | Friday, November 1, 2019

The beginning of the story is a simple one.  In 2007, assistant band director Sam Sanchez made his way to San Antonio to adopt a rescue dog. While Sanchez was playing with one, another dog attempted to snag his attention. The then-2-and-a-half-year-old dog’s pursuits proved successful, and Sanchez made his way back to Indiana with

Courtney Becker | Friday, September 9, 2016

Ahead of his first Midnight Drummer Circle, sophomore Patrick Falvey didn’t know how many people would come. The numbers at the Friday night band tradition amazed him. “I walk up to the Dome and see this enormous crowd of a few thousand people all there for us to start game day,” Falvey, a quad drummer

A great day to be Notre Dame

Zach Klonsinski | Tuesday, October 28, 2014

After wandering trance-like around the Florida State University campus for three hours after the game, I had every reason to feel disappointed or ticked off, pull out my hair in frustration or a combination thereof. Every right. Yet I didn’t. Instead, as I sat by one of the fountains on campus, I couldn’t help but
