John Kalemkerian | Tuesday, January 18, 2022

Continuing the trend of a great NFL season, Super Wild Card weekend gave us some great results and matchups to look forward to, although three blowouts marginally dulled the hype. From many fans’ perspectives (including this Giants fan), the Saturday and Sunday outcomes were about as good as could be hoped for, with the hated

Thomas Zwiller | Monday, May 10, 2021

There are not a whole lot of things that can overshadow the NFL draft. However, Aaron Rodgers sure did get close to doing just that. ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported that Rodgers is “so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return

On March 26, major news broke that changed the landscape of the upcoming NFL draft. The Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers made a trade; the 49ers received the third pick in the draft, moving up from the 12th spot. The 49ers had to give up a lot to do so; they sent the Dolphins

At long last, we’re down to just one game separating us from the kickoff of the XFL regular season. I know I speak for most of us when I say that’s really the season we’re all excited for. However, for now, we’re stuck with a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers,

We’re finally here. After months of slugging it out all over the country, enduring injuries and painful losses, two teams have fought their way to the top of the NFL. We only have one week of football left until next August, so let’s take a moment to look back and appreciate the journeys of the

Thomas: Rebuilding teams need to stop overvaluing the QB

Aidan Thomas | Thursday, January 23, 2020

The stage was set. I was in the Baumer Hall 24-hour lounge, watching the first half of the NFC championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers faced a 2nd and 9 at the Packers 18-yard line, already up 20-0. One spectator said, “I just want to see a

Charlie Law | Thursday, October 3, 2019

After years of trudging through losing seasons and watching their division rivals, the Seahawks and the Rams, each reach a Super Bowl within the last few years, the San Francisco 49ers have finally fought their way back to the top. Not only do the 49ers (3-0) currently sit atop the NFC West, they stand alone

A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department and you responded with the request: “Northwestern @ Notre Dame 2014 Football Breakdown”. That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
